Additional problems that may accompany CDH
These are some of the more common issues associated with a diagnosis of CDH. Some occur during pregnancy and others occur after birth. This list is by no means comprehensive, just a sampling of possible additional problems.
- Polyhydraminos (pregnancy)
- Pre-eclampsia (pregnancy)
- Pre-term labor (pregnancy)
- Chromosomal abnormalities (between 5 to 16%)
- Developmental delays
- Edwards syndrome
- Feeding issues
- Fryn’s syndrome
- Hearing loss (most commonly associated with placement on ECMO)
- Heart defects
- Hydrops
- Kidney problems
- Long-term digestive problems
- Long-term respiratory problems
- Missing limbs
- Pectus excavatum
- Scoliosis
- Severe reflux
